Becoming the Lioness: When Obedience Requires Growth

There is something God showed me that I have not been able to shake.

In the wilderness, the children of Israel needed water. They were thirsty, frustrated, and pressing Moses for a solution. God gave Moses a clear instruction: strike the rock, and water would come out.

And it did.

But later on… the same situation happened again.

Same people.
Same leader.
Same need.
Same God.
Even the same source—a rock.

But this time, God said something different: “speak to the rock.”

(You can find this in Exodus 17:6 and Numbers 20:8–11)

And this is where it gets serious.

Moses didn’t follow the new instruction.
He went back to what worked before.

He struck the rock again.

Water still came out… but it cost him access to the Promised Land.

What God showed me

Moses didn’t fail because he didn’t love God.
He didn’t fail because he didn’t care about the people.

He failed because he relied on a previous instruction in a new moment.

And this is where many of us are right now.

You are facing:

The same type of pressure
The same kind of battle
The same need for breakthrough

But God is not asking you to respond the same way.

This is where the Lioness is made

A Lioness is not just powerful.
She is trained.

She is not just bold.
She is sensitive to instruction.

There is a level in God where:

You can’t keep using old prayers for new seasons
You can’t keep moving off what worked last year
You can’t keep responding out of habit

Because obedience is not about what God said…
It’s about what God is saying.

And if you’re not careful, you will get results… but still miss the promise.

Check your method

Some of you are:

Still “striking” when God is saying “speak”
Still forcing what God wants you to release with authority
Still operating in strength when God is calling you into precision

The method matters.

Because your next level is not just about obedience…
It’s about accurate obedience.

Final thought

The people were thirsty both times.
The need didn’t change.
