Marching Orders: Guard Your Eyes, Follow God’s Instructions, and Prepare for Your Testimony

As we entered the month of March, the word the Lord placed strongly on my heart was “Marching Orders.”

When God gives marching orders, it means there are clear instructions from heaven about how we are supposed to move forward. Just like soldiers in the military, believers are not meant to move randomly. We are meant to move with discipline, obedience, and focus.

Throughout the first part of this month, one theme has continued to surface over and over again: protect your eye gate.

Jesus spoke about this very clearly in Luke 11:34 when He said:

“Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are healthy, your whole body also is full of light. But when they are unhealthy, your body also is full of darkness.”

What we allow ourselves to see matters more than most people realize. Our eyes are not just natural organs—they are spiritual gates.

What you constantly look at will eventually shape what you believe.
What you constantly focus on will influence what you expect.
And what you constantly expect will determine how you move.

One of the biggest mistakes believers make is trying to interpret spiritual situations through natural sight.

God may have spoken something over your life. He may have given you a promise, a calling, or an instruction. But if you begin to measure what God said against what your natural eyes see, you can easily become discouraged or distracted.

This is exactly why guarding your eye gate is so important.

Sometimes God tells you to move forward when nothing around you looks like it is working.

Sometimes God tells you to keep building when you cannot see the final outcome yet.

Sometimes God tells you to stay focused even when others around you do not understand what you are doing.

Your marching orders are not based on what people see—they are based on what God has said.

This is why I have been encouraging people this month to stay focused on the instructions God has given them personally.

God gives different assignments to different people. When He speaks to you about your life, your purpose, or your next steps, it is critical that you stay focused on His voice.

Proverbs 4:25 gives us a powerful instruction:

“Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you.”

In other words, do not get distracted by everything happening around you.

When soldiers receive marching orders, they are not looking to the left and right to see what everyone else is doing. They are focused on completing the mission they were assigned.

The same principle applies spiritually.

One of the things I teach in Prayer Warriors Boot Camp: How to War and Win in the Spirit is that spiritual victory often requires discipline in your focus. Prayer warriors are trained to keep their eyes on God even when circumstances look confusing.

Because the truth is, many spiritual battles are won or lost in the mind and the eyes before they ever manifest in the natural.

If the enemy can get you to focus on fear, you will start moving in fear.

If the enemy can get you to focus on delay, you will begin to believe nothing is happening.

But if you keep your eyes fixed on what God has said, your faith remains strong even while the process unfolds.

This month has been about reminding believers that God rewards obedience.

When God gives you instructions and you follow them faithfully, testimonies eventually follow.

The Bible is filled with examples of people who simply followed God’s instructions—even when they did not fully understand them at the time.

Noah built an ark before rain had ever fallen on the earth.

Joshua marched around Jericho for seven days before the walls fell.

Peter stepped out of the boat and walked on water when Jesus told him to come.

In every one of these stories, the miracle came after obedience.

That is why your focus matters so much.

Your eyes must stay on God’s word instead of your circumstances.

Your heart must stay anchored in what He has spoken instead of what the world is saying.

And your steps must remain aligned with the instructions He has already given you.

When you move this way, something powerful happens over time: testimonies begin to form.

The breakthrough comes.

The doors open.

The promise begins to manifest.

Not because everything was easy, but because you stayed focused long enough to complete the assignment.

That is the heart behind the Marching Orders series I have been sharing this month across my platforms. Each message is designed to remind believers to stay spiritually disciplined, guard their eye gate, and follow God’s instructions with confidence.

If you want to follow along with these teachings, you can find them on my TikTok at @prophetic_prayer_podcast, on my YouTube channel at @prophetessericamarie, and on Instagram at @ericaabariche, where I share prayer training, prophetic encouragement, and spiritual warfare teachings.

My goal has always been to train believers to become stronger and more disciplined in their prayer lives. That is why I wrote Prayer Warriors Boot Camp: How to War and Win in the Spirit. The book is designed to help believers understand how spiritual warfare works and how to develop the mindset of a trained prayer warrior.

Just like in military boot camp, spiritual strength comes through training, discipline, and consistency.

And sometimes the most important instruction God will give you is simply this:

Stay focused.
Guard your eyes.
Follow the orders I already gave you.

Because when you follow God’s marching orders faithfully, the testimony is already on the way.
